Ramadan and Eid stories with your child in them

A story about your child’s Ramadan: the lantern on the balcony, waking for suhoor, the first day they tried to fast, Eid morning at teta’s. You describe it, and Alf Layla writes and paints it, in Arabic and English.

Make your child’s book $2.50 for 10 pages. You only pay for a finished book.

Ideas parents start from

Write the idea in your own words, in English or in Arabic, with the family’s names and traditions. The story is written from what you describe.

Made in minutes, not posted

A printed personalised book can take days or weeks to arrive. An Alf Layla book usually takes under ten minutes, so you can make one the night before Eid, or a new one for each week of Ramadan. Read it on a phone, a tablet or the TV, or print the PDF.

A gift for family far away

Because the book is digital, grandparents in another country can read the same story at the same time, on a video call or on their own phone, in Arabic, while the grandchildren follow in English.

Price

$2.50 for a 10-page book and $4.50 for a 20-page book. Your card is charged only once your book is finished, so if it can’t be made you pay nothing. There is no subscription, and changing pictures and words afterwards is included.

Questions parents ask

How long does a book take?
Usually under ten minutes. The words come first, so you can start reading while the pictures are painted.
Will the child in the pictures look like mine?
Describe them once, with skin tone, hair, glasses or hijab, and every book draws them the same way. No photos needed.
Which Arabic is it written in?
Modern Standard Arabic, Levantine, Egyptian, Gulf or Moroccan: you choose for each book. Modern Standard Arabic comes with vowel marks (تشكيل) for children under eight, and you can turn them on or off.
Is it a printed book?
No. Alf Layla books are read on a screen (a phone, a tablet or the TV) or downloaded as a PDF you can print at home or at a print shop. Nothing is posted, so there is no shipping and no wait.
